Filming budgets have been kept low owing partly to the declining value of the South African Rand as well as the reasonable cost of living in the country. According to the The Economist, Cape Town is still 30-40% cheaper than Europe or the USA and 20% cheaper than filming in Australia.

Business Visas
Unless employed by a South African Company, foreigners do not need work permits. The entry requirement is a Business Visa, issued as the South African port of entry to travellers exempt from visa requirements. These include passport holders from the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, the United States of America and most European countries.
